Left Behind
Left Behind is a desktop and mobile site that tackles the discourse surrounding the delicate topic of suicide and its prevention. The site features a carefully curated selection of fiction work on the subject (pulled from poems, lyrics, film scripts, and plays), in addition to a non-fiction section with real-life stories and accounts (from news and magazine articles). A prevention section is also available on the site with information and resources for those who may be struggling or need help.
My goal was to create a site that feels safe and calm for users to read and engage with. I aimed to design in a more quiet, understated manner to show sensitivity and respect toward this delicate subject. I achieved this by using substantial white space, asymmetry, and an empathetic color palette accompanied by mood-appropriate images and photography that supported this tone.
